Favuzzi puttanesca-style tomato sauce is hearty and aromatic, featuring pine nuts, capers, and pieces of green olive. Its bold flavor profile evokes notes of mustard, black pepper, and bright lemon zest.
Traditionally served with spaghetti or penne, this sauce can be enriched with anchovies for a saltier depth, or spiced up with Favuzzi hot chili purée or a spicy Italian herb blend. It also serves as an excellent base for chicken cacciatore. For pasta, use approximately 375 mL of sauce for 500 g of pasta. To achieve an authentic Italian texture, reserve some pasta cooking water and blend ¼ to ½ cup (or a ladleful) into the sauce before adding the pasta. The salted, starchy water enhances flavor, thickens the sauce, and helps it cling to the pasta.
